The short version

OzCalc is a static website. There are no user accounts, no sign-ups, and nothing you type into a calculator is ever sent to us — every calculation runs in your own browser, using JavaScript that ships with the page. The one thing that persists is on your own device: so you don't have to retype everything next time, each calculator remembers the figures you last entered into that calculator, in your browser's local storage. That never leaves your device, and any calculator that filled itself in from last time says so above the result with a Start fresh button next to it.

What we don't collect

OzCalc has no accounts, no login, no contact forms that store submissions on our side, and no database of visitor inputs. The numbers you enter into a calculator (income, purchase price, HECS balance and so on) never leave your device — they're used to compute a result in your browser and are not transmitted to OzCalc or to any third party.

Figures remembered on your device

Calculator pages save the figures you entered in your browser's local storage, under a key named for that page, so a return visit starts where you left off instead of making you retype a salary or a purchase price. This is stored by your browser, on your device. It is not a cookie, it is not sent to OzCalc, and it is not sent to anyone else.

Three things worth knowing, because these are financial figures:

• Each calculator only ever reads back its own saved figures — the tax calculator cannot see what you entered into a stamp duty calculator.
• A shared link always wins. If you open a link that already carries figures in its address, those are the figures you see. Saved values never silently overwrite a result somebody sent you.
• Anything saved this way stays on the device until it's cleared. If you're on a shared or public computer, use Start fresh on the page (it appears whenever a page filled itself in from a previous visit), or clear site data in your browser settings.

Hosting logs

OzCalc is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like effectively any web host, Cloudflare's infrastructure processes standard server-level request logs (things like IP address, requested URL, browser user-agent and timestamp) as a normal part of serving the site — OzCalc doesn't access or separately store these, but they exist at the hosting layer. Analytics

Once enabled, OzCalc uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate traffic (which pages get visited, roughly how much traffic, which countries visitors come from). Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless — it doesn't set tracking cookies or use any persistent per-visitor identifier, and it doesn't require a cookie-consent banner as a result. It gives us aggregate counts, not per-visitor tracking.
